Creation of AR and VR content without prior knowledge
The company Apelab developed in collaboration with Technicolor tool Spatial Stories for interested VR enthusiasts who want to create content for VR with no prior knowledge of coding. This allows you to create and customize AR and VR apps for non-professionals and advanced users.
Own AR and VR apps with SpatialStories
SpatialStories was developed by the Swiss-American company Apelab with Technicolor . The tool is compatible with Oculus Rift , HTC Vive , Samsung Gear VR and the HoloLens . In addition, it will soon be usable with Apple’s ARKit and Google ARCore .
With Spatial Stories it is possible to create easily AR and VR projects and edit. This allows ambitious developers and interested VR enthusiasts to create interactive experiences thanks to a Unity -Addon.
The corresponding steps have made the developers accessible and intuitive. The user can, for example, select an object or character and assign these predetermined specifications. All the objects that are used are connected, allowing designers to run sequences or test interactions quickly. Also Apelabs next video game project Break a Leg arose within a few months with the toolkit.
Apelab’s CTO and co-founder , Michael Martin, said, “Our goal was to develop a flexible and intuitive tool for people with no coding knowledge that is quick and easy to learn. If we needed new features for our video game project Break a Leg , we designed it within the tool. Finally, people who had nothing to do with the development tested our toolkit to determine if the process was really simple and easy. That met perfectly. ”
However, the platform is also useful for developers, as programmers can embed their own codes, while designers can use them for their work. In the future, further functions are to be added, such as an AI, speech recognition and much more.
At the beginning of 2018, Apelab would like to publish its own software called SpatialStories Studio . This allows designers to create interactive content directly within the AR and VR environment.
