Sony Japan released Shoulder Speaker SRS-WS1
According to Japanese technology blog Jin 115, Sony has announced a special product today. It is the “SRS-WS1”, a set of surround sound speakers.
Speakers at shoulder height
The shoulder-set can also vibrate in three positions, weak, medium and strong. The medium setting will make sure you have a vibration of 80Hz and less. The technology is primarily intended for people who want a full surround experience, but do not have headsets. Ideal for virtual reality, for example, when you have a lot of attention and a headset is not always nice.
In addition to the sound collar, Sony also provides the package with a charging station as well as a transmitter for the wireless sound transmission. The system supports two connections at the same time; cable transmission is also possible. The SRS-WS1 has a stereo jack and a digital optical audio input. The battery should be enough for about seven hours of music playback and is charged wirelessly.
It remains to be seen whether Sony will release the system in the West or will target only the home country. Officially it will be released on October 14th.
