The Obamas bid farewell with a VR White House tour
The Emmy is the most important television award in the United States and in the run-up to the big award ceremony on 17 September 2017 the prizes have already been awarded in the smaller categories. The VR film “The People’s House” won an Emmy.
VR films currently don’t have a category of their own but they are managed under the “Outstanding Interactive Program”. “The People’s House: Inside the White House with Barack and Michelle Obama”, according to the full name, has won in “Outstanding Original Interactive Program”.
With Gear VR and Oculus Rift in the footsteps of the President
The People’s House is as much a meditation on an American institution as it is a glimpse into the Obamas’ life. As the name suggests, you can take a virtual tour of the White House. You will meet former US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. You start out by coming right through the front door and towards the lone podium where we’ve seen the President deliver countless announcements.
You can watch The People’s House for free on both Oculus Rift and Gear VR . In addition, the directors of Felix & Paul Studios published as a supporting content a 360 ° video on YouTube, which you can see above.
