‘Rec Room’ Heading To PSVR With Cross-Platform Multiplayer

Against Gravity released Rec Room for the HTC Vive in June 2016, and the game quickly gained popularity among Vive owners. At Steam users have written more than 1,700 reviews to Rec Room, and 97% of the reviews are positive. According to Steamspy, more than 18,000 players have stayed in the app over the past two weeks.

The game is free to play, yet it offers more robust content than many of the VR titles available to date. Think of Rec Room as a virtual community center where you can join activities with others, such as dodgeball, basketball, or charades. Rec Room also features co-op adventure games and competitive paintball. In December, the developer added support for Oculus Rift with Touch controllers, which included cross-platform multiplayer support.

In a Reddit article, a developer announces that the Social VR App will appear in the fourth quarter of 2017 for Playstation VR. Thanks to Crossplay, owners of Sony’s VR glasses can meet and play with users of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

The access will be free of charge; a Playstation Plus membership is not required. American users can now register for a beta test. The studio will expand the beta to other regions as far as possible. Anyone who would like to ask the developers questions, can do this in the relevant Reddit contribution.
