Leak shows Google’s new Daydream-view glasses
On October 4, 2016, the company launched the in-house smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL on the market. Just one year later Google wants to hold a press conference and launch the second generation of the devices. Google will also present the new Daydream-View models.
The Leak comes from the Droid Life shows the smartphone holders in three new colors. In the pictures it can be seen that the design has been slightly reworked and the surfaces of the VR glasses consist of a new material. In addition, the price will be $100 instead of $80.
Google could also announce new Daydream-compatible smartphones at the press conference. At the end of July, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai announced that eleven Daydream-compatible devices would be available on the market by the end of the year, including LG. The company has not yet presented a smartphone that supports Daydream. So far the following devices are compatible with Daydream:
Asus: Zenfone AR
Google: pixels and pixels XL
Huawei: Mate 9 Pro and Mate 9 Porsche Design
Lenovo: Moto Z and Moto Z Force
Samsung: Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus
ZTE: Axon 7
There may also be new information on the self-sufficient Daydream glasses from HTC and Lenovo, which are due to be released this year. The devices have all the electronics required for operation installed in the house and are not dependent on any feeders or external sensors. While the reference design of the VR glasses comes from Qualcomm, Google provides the Daydream ecosystem and the tracking software.
Google’s press conference will take place on 4 October from 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT.
